Project Ladrillo

Project Ladrillo is all about balance—honoring mid-century modern design while updating it for today’s lifestyle.

There’s something really special about mid-century modern homes—the clean lines, the connection to nature, the effortless cool. But when they’re outdated, they can feel a little stuck in time. That’s exactly where Project Ladrillo began: a classic mid-century modern home that needed a fresh perspective while still honoring its original architecture.

Let’s start with the exterior, because she makes a statement. We went with a striking black facade, which instantly modernized the home while creating the perfect contrast against warm brown accent wood tones. To stay true to the home’s mid-century roots, we added board and batten detailing, keeping the architecture clean, intentional, and respectful of the original design.

The interiors are warm, earthy, and effortless. Inside, the kitchen, living, and dining areas flow together beautifully, grounded by gorgeous oak floors that bring warmth and texture to the space. The palette leans earthy with a slightly masculine edge, balanced by beautiful stonework that adds depth without overpowering the simplicity of the design.

The living room ceiling might just be the showstopper of the entire home. We clad it in oak shiplap, drawing the eye upward and adding architectural interest, then paired it with directional lighting to highlight the natural grain and create a cozy yet dramatic feel.

For the bathrooms, we chose large-format porcelain tiles with a cement-like finish and terrazzo-inspired textures. The result is clean, modern, and timeless—perfectly aligned with the mid-century modern vibe while still feeling fresh and current.

Project Ladrillo is all about balance—honoring mid-century modern design while updating it for today’s lifestyle. Warm woods, bold contrasts, thoughtful textures, and architectural details all come together to create a home that feels elevated, inviting, and undeniably cool.
